Maintaining Happiness through Hardships

Two weeks ago we requested some suggestions on what we should blog about next and the responses were so diverse and broad that we literally wanted to get started on them as soon as we could!

This week’s blog post was suggested by Sidrah Umair. We will be talking about how to NOT let shaytan (the devil) ruin your happiness.

Happiness can be defined differently by different people and that is completely fine. Everyone obviously has different interests and as long as they find happiness and peace in that, that is the most important thing.

But what happens when we are faced by a hardship or a downfall which makes us lose track of what to be grateful for and our happiness?

Well, ‘that’ hardship or downfall is pretty much life. The sooner you accept that you have been faced by a hardship, the sooner you will be able to get your thoughts together and begin drawing up on potential solutions to solve the matter. The added feelings of stress, panic and worry are all further motivated by shaytan. Once you fall into this trap, it is understandably difficult to get yourself out of 1. the feeling of being low and 2. the hardship itself.

Trust me, once you embed this understanding of hardships being inevitable and that shaytain’s role is to make it worse for you, you’ll be able to enjoy being happier sooner.

Another way one of our colleagues here at IMENE CO claims to deal with maintaining happiness even through hardships is by bracing herself for personal growth and development through the hardship. Whatever the hardship is, she knows she will get through it and once it is over, she would have learnt a lot more about herself and the situation.

A few other points:

  1. Routinely counting your blessings. Even if it’s having the luxury of a roof over you head and two meals a day.

  2. Accepting hardships are part of life and you cannot run away from them (even with all the money in the world).

  3. Knowing Allah is with you through every moment of the hardship and most importantly ‘’Allah does not burden a soul beyond it can bear’’ (Surah Al-Baqarah).

So next time you face a hardship, embrace it knowing Allah swt chose to challenge you to reward you through patience and perseverance of happiness.

Once again, thank you to Sidrah Umair for proposing this topic. If you have any other suggestions on what we should talk about next then please email us at info@Imene.co.
